The answer to this question is NO . Now talking about drop, it is a normal practice because till 12th many students focus on their board examination with is very different from what is required to crack JEE. There are some pros and cons about it. The pros are less and cons are more but try to focus on pros:
PROS:-
CONS:-
See there are lot more things beyond this which you can expect, but if your parents agree you on your decision then the social part will be taken by them. One more thing is, if you are really taking drop then please try to get good college with atleast CSE branch otherwise the students studying and the relatives along with you will always back bitch about you. My suggestion would be, if you feel you can give your entire 1 year for studying then please go for drop other wise take a decent colleges and try for GATE after graduation.

Hey Budhyani.
See taking just one year drop will cause u no harm in the btech career as drop effects the placements scenario when it is for more than one year. As the preference in the placements is given according to the fresher's and then droppers. If u get a good college after one year drop then it would do no harm.
Hope u got ur point. Ask if any query.
Good luck
Hi budhyani ! According to me the answer is no. If by dropping a year you can get a good college then it is much better to have a bad college. It will have no negative effects since age is not a factor. Since from good college you can easily grab a healthy job and from bad college you need to work hard to get a good college so it will become a positive effect. Also at that time you have to m.tech, MBA or other post graduate. So best of luck to.
