du admission process 2020 for ug courses ba hons. ?
Admission to different UG courses are provided by the University of Delhi on the basis of your class 12th aggregate percentage i.e. the four subjects in which you have the best score ('Best of Four').
As the first step, you need to fill up the online application for DU likely to be available by 2nd April, 2020 on their official website : du.ac.in under 'UG admissions'.
Then, by the end of July, when the university will release the cutoff lists for its different recognized and affiliated colleges, you need to check for which colleges you are eligible to apply.
If your score is meeting the requirements for BA (honours) in your desired course then as the next step, you'll have to participate in their counseling process.
In this way, you can get admission in the college that you are eligible for and you want to join (depending on the courses provided by the colleges).
To give you a slight idea about the selection process through 'Best of Four' , let's say that you've secured the following marks in your CBSE Class 12th exams :-
Geography : 75
History : 81
Political Science : 87
English : 90
Hindi : 88
Then, your 'Best of Four' will be : marks obtained in the four subjects : (History + Pol. Science + English + Hindi ) /4 = (81+87+90+88)/4 = 346/4 = 86.5 (excluding Geography as you've scored the lowest marks i.e. 75 in it, when compared to the others).
And this 86.5 % will be the key deciding factor for the colleges you can get.
If someone has 6 subjects in his/her 10+2 level, even then the four subjects in which the student has obtained the best marks will be considered.
I hope you've got your answer.
Don't hesitate to ask in case you have any further queries.
Hello aspirant,
To get admission in DU the minimum percentage for BA (Hons) and B.Com (Hons) should be an aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination for OBCs and 50% for GEN(general) category.
Thank you.
