Due to pandemic, there was no restriction of 75% marks or 20 percentile for JEE 2020. Can a student below 75% marks appear for JEE 2021 ? Will criteria of passing for him be same in 2021 as fixed for 2020 ?

Hello Student,

There is no minimum percentage required toappearinJEE Mainbut to get admission in IITs/NITs/GFTIs you must secure75%marksin class12with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry if youbelongto general category and for SC/ST it is 65%marksin the same.
But this year the minimum percentage requirement to get admission in IITs and NITs was scrapped off and it is applicable for JEE Main 2020 because the class 12 board exams were cancelled by several boards due to covid-19.
But for JEE Main 2021 the minimum percentage criteria may not be applicable as there is no clarification yet regarding this. But you can appear in JEE main 2021 if you are eligible even if you have scored below 75% but you won't be able to get admission in IITs/NITs/GFTIs if the relaxation of minimum percentage is not given for JEE Main 2021.

Thank you!!

But you have not mentioned about 20 percentile criteria. Either 75 % in board exam or in top 20percentile

KUSHAGRA One more query, suppose a student does not score 75% in board exam 2018 but he is in top 20 percentile criteria as declared by JOSAA for 2018 year. If he drops and reappears for Jee in 2019. If top 20 percentile marks increased by JOSAA in 2019, can the student be eligible for JEE 2019 on the basis of 2018 top 20percentile criteria as declared by JOSAA for 2018 .

Dear student,

If you have more attempt left for jee advanced then definitely you can take a drop for jee 2021.
This year due to covid - 19 situation the class 12th eligibility criteria has been given a relaxation. But there is no sure saying that this eligibility criteria will remain same for next year. And if your class 12th marks is less than 75%, so in that case, if this current rule or policy or you can say the eligibility criteria is scrapped then, it will create a problematic situation for you.
Also there is no offical announcement yet made that what will be the class 12th passing criteria for those who will give jee exam in 2021.
So, it will be better that you once again give you board examsand secure more than 75% to remain on a safer side. And one again prepare for jee 2021 with full confidence.
