Drug inspectors are specialists who monitor a drug's safety, utility performance, and consistency from the time it is manufactured until it is sold in a retail outlet. They ensure that the medicines are suitable for human consumption. The main responsibility that they have is to examine pharmaceuticals at various stages of the research and development, distribution, and selling procedure to determine that the prescribed standards have been met.
Candidates must undergo a screening process administered by the UPSC and/or SPSCs in order to become drug inspectors. Those who manage it through the selection process will have a rewarding career with a high salary.
Below stated is a stepwise process to become a drug inspector :-
Step 1 :- Complete 10+2
The students are required to complete a 10+2 level of education in physics-chemistry- biology with an aggregate of 50 per cent of marks or equivalent to it from a recognised board.
Step 2 :- Entrance Examination
Many colleges conduct different entrance examinations for providing admissions. In order to be eligible to sit for the entrance exam, students must have appeared in 10+2 examinations of the science stream.

Step 3 :- Bachelor's
In order to pursue a career as a Drug Inspector one needs to complete his bachelor's course.

Step 4 :- Government examination
Students can easily appear for several government examinations after having a bachelor's degree. Mainly Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), State Public Service Commission (SPSC).
Step 5 :- Post - Bachelor's
Candidates have several post-bachelor degrees to lead their Drug Inspector career path. You have two options when you reach here.
Option 1- You can start working in an entry-level position after completing a bachelor's degree. It will give you industry knowledge and experience. After a few years, you can further resume study and opt for a master’s degree. A master’s degree is considered more valuable for senior roles.
Option 2 - After completing a bachelor's degree programme, you can resume your studies without having to take a gap during the academic year. You can begin working in the industry after completing a master's degree.

The average salary of a Drug Inspector is Rs. 50,000 per month to Rs. 1.5 Lakhs per annum depending on the experience, knowledge, skills etc.
Drug Inspectors appointed by Central Government will be different from the Inspectors appointed by the State Government. The initial salary for freshers would be Rs. 40,000 per month.
