Hello, There is no subject wise eligibility in the UGC NET Exam. But your Post Graduation must be done from Political Science or related subject. NTA UGC NET follows only two eligibility criteria, first one is for the Age criteria and the other one is for the Educational Qualification.
1. Age criteria:
The eligibility of the age is divided into two parts; first for the post of an Assistant Professor and the other one is for JRF candidates. The maximum age limit for JRF is 30 years and there is no age limit for an Assistant Professor.
2. Educational Qualification:
Candidate must secure minimum 55% of marks in their Post-Graduation. If you fulfil the both eligibility criteria you can also fill the Application Form for June session. The last is coming soon i.e. 30th March 2019.
To be eligible for the UGC NET exam one must have-
at least 55% marks in aggregate in Masters Degree for the general candidates ;
at least 50% marks in aggregate in Masters Degree for the ST/SC/OBC/PWD category candidates.
Also, the candidates who are even in their 1st year of college can apply for the exam, but then 2 years from the day of the declaration of the result they have to submit their Master's Degree with at least 50% or 55% marks as their category may be.
Apart from the above-mentioned criteria, one must also know that they can choose their subject for NET exam only in the field from which they have done their post-graduation. For example: One can't give NET in economics subject if he/she has done PG in M.Com for that the person must have done their PG in MA from Economics. I hope this helps! Good luck.
