Hello,

UPSC only requires a candidate to have attained 21 years age and graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, even final years are eligible.

There's no doubt that UPSC is more humanities oriented, science is present in limited way in the exam pattern. So,people from humanities background are well acquainted with the subjects such as polity, history, geography, economics perhaps people from science background have to start from basics because they don't have these subjects at their class XI and XII. But it doesn't act as a roadblock in any which way, so many engineering students have qualified for UPSC because they have done planning in systematic way, Also, people with science subjects as optional have qualified because they have the right approach towards study in terms of going through previous year questions, analyzing deeply the trends, sticking to syllabus for what to read and what to skip etc.
