To take admission in IIT and NIT the NRI students need to appear in JEE mains with it they also have to clear  exams like TOEFL AND GRE

They Should have passed 10+2 with 50%aggregate in five subjects

NRI students can study through various methods like

1. Admission through cultural Exchange programs

2.Admission under self finance

3. under MOU

4.Casual students

Other than this many colleges and universities has NRI quota through which admission can be taken

There are lots of colleges who focus is on NRI Students only

AICTE has allowed engineering cilleges to reserve max 5% seats for NRI

997 seats are reserved under NRI quota
