there's a very broad field in which a scientist can work upon.
it actually depends on you whether you want to keep studying and explore as a scientist or you want to do some work by persuing this position.
Large and small companies can hire scientists to work on products and research projects.
Universities will hire scientists to do research work or to teach.
Governments and hospitals issue research grants and hire scientists to work on funded projects. Regardless of the path the scientist decides to follow, the ultimate goal of a scientist is to always keep adding knowledge and do something for the betterment of the surrounfing.
