Hello Ram Mohan,
There are six types of ovules. They are as follows:-
- Orthotropous or atropous ovule- The body of the ovule is straight so that the micropyle, funicle, and chalaza all line up.
- Anatropous ovule- This type of ovule becomes inverted during development and the micropyle ends up close to the hilum.
- Campylotropous ovule- In this ovule type, the body is bent so that the chalaza and micropyle are not longer aligned. Also, the embryo sac has only a slight curve.
- Hemi-anatropous or hemitropous ovule- The ovule looks like it’s lying on its side because it is at a right angle to the funicle.
- Amphitropous ovule- This ovule is horseshoe-shaped due to the curvature of its body and the embryo sac.
- Circinotropous ovule- A very long funicle almost completely encircles the ovule and the micropyle is pointing up.
Hope it helps you
Thank you
