Indian Administrative Services (IAS):

There would be hardly anyone who would not have heard of IAS, even if you do not know the full-form of it, still you would know that IAS is something good and well not just good it is most sort after. IAS or Indian Administrative Services is also equally difficult to be a part of. The IAS exam is tough and that is where most people fail to reach the next level. The grilling exam is the responsibility of UPSC or Union Public Service Commission. IAS officers are well filtered before they are posted and once they are, the pay is equally rewarding and worth every bit of hard work that went into getting that job. It is an All India Service and the candidate can take plum positions in Central Government, State Government and even be eligible for certain posts in the Public Sector Undertakings

2. Energy and Petroleum PSUs:

Oil and Petroleum companies are typically well off in terms of cash flow and make regular and good profits. They don’t mind sharing these with the employees. Moreover in a Government Company certain minimum pay as per certain posts and designations is pre-defined so again the payment is pretty good and certainly high compared to other companies. Also energy companies, especially NTPC or National Thermal Power Corporation is among the highest paying companies. NTPC is ranked 384

th

in the world by Forbes. This tells you something about the scale of NTPC. They are also among a few government companies who give importance to campus recruitment and if you are an Engineering graduate then you stand a good chance of getting into NTPC. Again for PSU’s like say ONGC for instance, they would pay a lot more money to some working offshore as compared to someone working in a Mumbai office maybe. So the post your acquire also factors in when talking about high pay, but at least there is scope of earning high.

3. Defence Jobs – Indian Coast Guards and Pilots:

Defence jobs are respected jobs. Security of the entire nation rests on the broad and able shoulders of defence personnel. Among the various defence jobs, the job as a Pilot is well paid and is among the highest paid Government Jobs. Same applies for India Coast Guards. If you are at a higher post in the ICG or in the Air Wing of the ICG then you can expect great respect and high pay-scale. Graduates can apply for a job with the ICG. They do have their tests and selection process, which as you would expect are pretty tough, since it is a matter of national security. However if you are through; it is indeed among the high paying government jobs
