The candidates are given 120 questions to be answered in 120 minutes. The preparation plan is in line with other entrance exams.
NMAT exam consists of 3 broad sections :
- Verbal Ability
- Quantitative Ability (this includes Data Interpretation too)
- Reasoning
The broad topics which are examined under these three sections are :
- Verbal Ability (22 minutes) –
- Para Jumbles
- Sentence Correction
- Sentence completion
- Antonyms and Synonyms
- Analogies
- Grammar
- Reading Comprehension
- Quantitative Ability (60 minutes) –
- Averages
- Simple interest and compound interest
- Time, speed and distance
- Time and work
- Profit and loss
- Ratio proportions
- Algebra
- Number systems
- Mensuration
- Geometry
- Quadratic and linear equations
- Trigonometry
- Probability, permutation and combination
- Data sufficiency
Data interpretation includes:
- Line graph
- Bar graph
- Pie chart
- Tables
- Venn diagrams
- Combination graphs
- Reasoning (38 minutes)- It consists of two sub-parts:
Verbal reasoning :
- Assertions and reasons
- Strong and weak arguments
- Assumption conclusions
- Critical reasoning
- Courses of actions
Logical reasoning:
- Linear arrangements
- Circular arrangements
- Input/output
- Coding/decoding
- Family based puzzles
- Directions
Preparation
- Be thorough with the basic concepts of the topics listed above.
- Practice short-cuts for the questions already done as this test needs to speed with accuracy to clear.
- Prepare self-notes and flash cards
- You need to practice everyday to improve your speed
- Practice sectional mocks as this exam has sectional time limits
- Practice mocks and try to give the mocks in the slot of your actual exam.
