explain the development towards the multi party system in India
Hi,
India has a multi party system this means there are a number of national as well as regional parties. original party is the one that gives majority through elections and rule a particular state. When a party is represented in in more than 4 States then it is labelled as a national party. India is a land of diversity it is necessary that they must be different parties in the country. Though no single party has a majority in the parliament by itself.
India to adopt a multi party system is because there is a social and geographical diversity in India in large country that it cannot be absorbed by two or three parties. The system allows a variety of interest and opinions to enjoy political representation.
The merits of the system are:
1)This system allows a variety of interest and opinions to enter political representation.
2) People can make a choice between several candidates.
The demerits of the system are:
1) A single party cannot drink the power alone. So usually leads to a formation by coalition which makes it difficult to run the country
2) It best political instability and often appears to be messy.
