For BMS UGAT exam is necessary !!

Short Answer: No, to study BMS in any given college, it is not mandatory to take UGAT exam. But for particular colleges, it is necessary.
Long Answer: BBA stands for Bachelor of Business Administration and BMS stands for Bachelor of Management Studies. These two courses are more or less the same and some universities give the name as BBA and some universities give the name as BMS. Hence, its BBA/BMS, UGAT.
Under Graduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) is a once-a-year conducted national level entrance exam, administered by All India Management Association or AIMA annually to screen the candidates for various undergraduate courses such as BBA, BCA, BHM, B.Com, etc. It is an objective type test which is designed to measure a candidate's general aptitude and technical skills.
UGAT bulletin is brought out along with the UGAT form and the candidates will be provided five options to choose amongst the participating management institutes/universities/colleges.
Eligibility : The minimum qualification is 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board. Students appearing/appeared in 10+2 can also apply. There is no age bar.

After the participating institutes will announce their cutoff lists, candidates will be shortlisted for admissions to various participating institutes after shortlisted candidates attend Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) rounds at participating institutes/universities.
So unless you're aiming to admission in the above colleges, it is not necessary to have UGAT exam scores.
But usually, most renowned colleges have their own entrance exams. Most of the BBA entrance exams test the basic knowledge on:
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General English
- Analytical Reasoning
- General Awareness

- DUJAT: Colleges offering BBA programmes affiliated by Delhi University, Delhi
- GGSIPU CET BBA: Colleges offering BBA programmes affiliated by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi
- NPAT BBA: For Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce at Mumbai, Bangalore, Navi Mumbai, and Indore campuses
- SET BBA: For SICSR Pune, SCMS Pune & Noida, SLS Pune, Noida & Hyderabad
- IPMAT: For IIM, Indore
Of course, these exams have their own eligibility criteria, correction procedure, selection process, and pattern.
