For B.Tech in biotechnology is maths compulsory?

Yes, ideally Maths is compulsory subject in any branch of Engineering, including Biotechnology. In most of the Institutions where the entries are based on JEE rankings , Higher Engineering Mathematics is a part of the curriculum uptill 2 semesters and a couple of related courses in the following semesters as well.
In other Institutions or Universities, that admit students from Biology background as well on Board Exam merit, there certain basic mathematics course are usually practised. This usually includes Mathematics upto class 12th.
Mathematics has always been an Integral part of our education. And as long as things go interdisciplinary, even the pure biologists might require the knowledge of mathematics in the near furure.

If you want to pursue Btech in Biotechnology then the criteria which is required is you'll have to complete 10+2 with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. Since the course is a combination of Biology and Technology therefore both Biology and Mathematics are required.
