First of all both IT / CSE are very much similar. They both have almost same syllabus and scope in future.

Both of them deals with the software. Some trending technologies like cloud computing, deep learning, machine learning, artificial intelligence are learned by both IT and CSE student. There is no difference like if a student is an IT engineer he will have less salary or less position. The only difference is the name else everything is similar. The highest package will based on the talent and the work they do. The top most engineers hired in top companies get 30-40 lakhs p.a. and even more if they really work good.
