For getting 96 percentile in CAT how many question I can attempt??
CAT is an exam that tests your expertise in 3 basic fields:
1. Mathematics (QA)
2. English and Reading Comprehension (VRC)
3. Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation (LR+DI)
One has to be a jack of all the three sections to ace the test, this becomes more important since one never knows what the composition of the CAT paper is going to be next year.
CAT 2015 onwards had a change of pattern. The total duration of the exam was increased to170 minutes, with total100 questionsto be answered. Also candidates were not allowed to switch sections in between.
Here are a few important aspects of CAT preparation that you must keep in mind in order to be a top scorer in CAT!
1. First and foremost: Dont Lie to yourself!
Most people have the habit of ignoring what they dont like. Be honest with yourself. Know your Strengths, Weaknesses and which sections you need to improve upon. If you are weak in English improve upon it. If QA or LRDI is your weak section practice till you master it.
2. Start Reading
My personal opinion is that this is not of use UNLESS you have weakverbal skills. Reading will definitely help you improve yourgrammarandvocabulary. Also practice more and more comprehensive reading i.e. passages upto 800 words maximum.
3. Brush up your basic maths for Quant section
Be clear with the keyconceptsof any topic, the fundamentals andlogicsused. Solve as many questions as you can, learn a fewtricksand apply them. Tricks come in handy many a times. But first try to be accurate then work on your speed.
Learn a fewspeed maths trickshere.
4. Data Interpretation & Logical section
This section is considered as the most scoring one by students and also the toughest of them all! You need topracticea lot to excel in this section before the CAT. Go through as many questions as you can, practice all the varieties. Personally I feel no one can teach youLR & DI.
On line practice is best suited for this. Apps likeTestbharatprovide free test series for CAT and section wise questions.
I hope it will work for you and there is no formula that assures you 96 percentile. Attempt as many right questions as you can.
All the best.
Cheers !!
A marks of around 135 which means total 45-50 questions with 99% accuracy which comes down to 15 correct questions (approximately) in each section, has been fetching a percentile of 96+ in the past few years.
All the best!!
