Hi Rohit Razdan
There is nothing to called PASSING MARKS in NEET Exam. In NEET, it is QUALIFYING MARKS rather which is 50th percentile (approx. 118 marks)
I f you have just qualifying marks then you can apply in any private college but you can not able to get Seat in govt. medical college by these nos.
For a reputed govt. medical college seat, you have to secure at least 580+ (For OBC category)in NEET.
550+ is a safe score (for SC category) but it depends on no. of rounds of counselling conducted by MCI. Cut off may come down, but still try to secure above 530.
Cut off marks differ hugely for state quota seats. So it depends to which state you belong.
If you want to score good marks in NEET then just follow simple steps -
- · Clear your basic concepts.
- · Be thorough with NCERT textbook. It’s a must.
- · Solve previous year question papers.
- · Take mock tests to assess your progress.
- · Solve questions from any reference book you prefer for competitive exams (I refer GRB Chemistry both for organic and inorganic).
- · Solve as much as numerical possible.
- · Use shortcuts to solve to save your time. Formulas to be at your Fingertips.
- · Manage your time judiciously.
- Avoid distractions during study hours.
- Don't keep doubts pending clear them as soon as possible from your teachers.

For SC/ST CATEGORY candidates, there'll be a little more relaxation in the scoring criteria as scores between 540-580 can probably fetch them a seat in some of the best medical colleges.
For PH CATEGORY candidates, more or less the similar scores as that of an SC/ST CATEGORY candidate can fetch them seats in very good medical colleges.
One reminder, the marks That I've mentioned above are subject to change depending on how tough the paper is set and how well students perform. So, I'd only recommend the person concerned to work to the best of their abilities and consider working on these issues after the exams are done because once the results are out predicting colleges becomes easier.
