After completion of B.Tech one can apply for different government jobs or appear in different job exams based on his/her choices.
GATE : (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers) This exam contains mainly technical questions, with a pinch of qualitative and quantitative aptitude. It gives much importance mainly on the subjects , one studied in BTech.
Opportunities : With a valid GATE score one can get himself to apply for M.Tech studies in IISc, IITs, NITs, and other well known institutes of the country. One can also crack the exam and appear for interviews in PSUs like HPCL, BPCL, ONGC, BHEL, BEL, HAL, POWERGRID , NTPC , SAIL etc.
ESE : The exam pattern is also similar to GATE, syllabus is also similar. A combined three-stage competitive examination (comprising five tests), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services. IES officers carry high respect and status in society and are able to manage activities in diverse areas.
CAT: (Common Admission Test) The test scores a candidate on the basis of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI ) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and selects students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation. The exam is mainly for higher studies in MBA in IIMs .
Other management exams: MAT, MICAT, SNAP, XAT, etc
Railway Engineers : Getting recruited in Indian Railways is one of the best career options . Railways department recruits on a very large scale every year . The major job profiles in Railways for engineers are senior section engineer (SSE) and junior engineer (JE) . Railway Engineer job is considered as one of the most reputed jobs with respectable salary and numerous other benefits . Further , the job pressure and work demand are also manageable .
Apart from the above , there are many more government job options such as Clerical Crade in Public Sector Banks , Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) , SSC CGL , IT officer in Public Sector Banks etc.
