Hello ,

Fundamental rights are some of the most basic human rights given to the people of a country which are written and described in the constitution of the country  , in India we have total of 6 fundamental rights which are Right to Equality, Right to freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to freedom of Religion, Cultural and Educational Rights and Right to constitutional Remedies .

The best thing or merit about fundamental rights are that it helps the citizens the rights they  deserve and protects them from oppression etc .

The demerits are far lesser than merits but sometimes these rights can be misused for example freedom of expression can be used by someone to propagate false information or propaganda which is harmful for society.

Hope this helps.

Hello aspirant,

Hope you are doing great....!!!

A Constitution is like a rule book that explains the right and the wrong things, and the moral duties and values that need to be followed by all citizens. It also gives rules for punishing the wrongdoers.

The Indian Constitution has furnished a few fundamental rights for all Indian citizens.

There are a few merits and demerits of the fundamental rights that have been given in the Constitution.

Merits:

1. The function, power, and composition of the State and Central government are specified. Therefore, there is a certainty.

2. It makes sure that a certain government body accounts for the group of people and keeps checking on them and makes the council of ministers accountable.

3. The fundamental rights empower the citizens.

4. The citizens duly elect the representative legislature candidate.

5. Ensures an independent judiciary.

Demerits:

1. The constitution was drafted during the old times according to the scenario at that time. It needs to be modified according to the current times and situation.

2. A written constitution takes time for making amendments.

I hope this information helps you!

All the best:)
