Give the Classification of RNA .
Hi Tamoghna,
RNA is classified into the following parts:-
- message RNA (mRNA) - RNA carries genetic informationtranscribed form DNA.
- transfer ribonucleic acidt RNA(tRNA) - RNA is responsible to transport in protein synthesis.
- ribosomalRNA(rRNA) - The main part of ribosomeMicroRNAs
- Micro RNA (miRNAs) - A kind of non-coding RNA in eucaryonwith regulative function
- Small RNA - Small RNA can be formed complex with protein, play an important role in theactivity of cells.
- telomeraseRNA - telomeraseRNA is related to thereplication of chromosomes.
- antisenseRNA - antisenseRNA involves in theregulation of gene expression.
- long non-coding RNA (lnc RNA) - Non encoding protein RNA but participate in the regulation of cells.
Feel free to ask doubts in the Comment Section.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck!
Hello Student,
RNA Can be classified in the following categories.
A. Classification 1 - Based on the availability
1. Genetic RNA - Found in TMV. RNA Acts as Genetic Material.
2. Non- Genetic RNA - Present in cells where DNA is present as genetic Material.
It Is of Three Types -
- Messenger RNA
- Ribosomal RNA
- Transfer RNA
B . Classification 2 - Based on the function .It actually consists of Non Genetic RNAs only
1. Protein Coding RNA - mRNA/Messenger RNA
2. Nonprotein Coding RNA - It is again of two types
- a) Circ RNA : rRNA, Long non coding RNA
- b)Small rRNA : transfer RNA/tRNA , SnRNA/Small Nuclear RNA , Silencing RNA
