If you intend to become foreign ambassador of India, then first of all you have to appear for Indian Foreign Service conducted by UPSC every year, however you must remember that merely qualifying IFS you don't become foreign ambassador, while being abroad it starts off with third secretary, second secretary, first secretary, couselor after 13 years of service, minister after 17 years of service, then finally ambassador, while being posted at MEA in India, the rank follows as under secretary, deputy secretary, director, joint secretary, additional secretary and finally, secretary. the eligibility criteria for IFS is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized University, final year students too are eligible for this, the recruitment of the exam mainly consists of three stages namely preliminary which is the f irst Stage and MCQs based exam, it has two papers and each one consists of 200 marks,its numbers ain't added to final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.
mains and interview,
next comes mains which it's more of a subjective type, you are required to write answers for Four General Studies Paper , two optionals, Two Language Paperwhich is only qualifying by nature, each is of 300 Marks, and candidates need to get merely 25% that is 75 Marks , One Essay , so i n total there are nine papers in Mains, except the two language papers , each paper is of 250 marks, total adds up to 1750 marks.
final stage is personality test for 275 marks.
