Dear Sushma, we shall be honest with you. There are 20 IIMs and each IIM has its own selection criteria abd almost as many as 1000 Participating Institutions. The calculation and weightage of marks given for Academic section is different for each Category. And then each IIM Categorises and defines sectional importance in CAT exam differently. You havent mentioned your target Institutions. For example, look at this:

IIM                          QA              DLR        VARC      Overall

Ahmedabad          65               65               65            70

Bangalore             70                70              70             75

Calcutta                65                65              65             70

Indore                   70                 70              70             80

Lucknow              77                77               77             82

And once these scores are calculated, the following formulae are used to calculate your 10th, 12th and Graduation scores:

10th Standard: 36*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

12th Standard: 40*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

CAT 2019 score: 20*[Candidate's overall score /Highest CAT score]

Gender Diversity Factor: = 4 for female applicants

=0 for other applicants

Composite score= sum of the above scores

And with CAT being conducted in 2 different slots, there should be a way to commonise the CAT score. The scores will be normalised to ensure equivalence in the difficulty levels of the exams for both slots. IIM Kozikhode will normalise the CAT scores using percentile equivalence. Adjustment of location and scale differences of score distributions across different norms and then scores will be normalised. These scores will be then converted into percentiles for shortlisting and selection purposes.

And your Graduation stream plays an important role in adding marks to the Academic Diversity Factor. For example for Commerce stream, the calculation is as follows:

Percent Scored         Rating Score

<=50                                 1

>50 and <= 55                2

>55 and <= 65               3

>65 and <= 75              5

>75 and <= 90               8

>90                                10

For Graduation, the percentage of marks secured will be considered final. If the Institution doesnt grant marks but grants grades or percentages, it will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the marks list.

That will be calculated as follows:

Percent Scored            Rating Score

<= 55                                      1

> 55 and <= 60                     2

> 60 and <= 62                     3

> 62 and <= 65                      5

> 65 and <= 70                      8

> 70                                         10

For Science Stream, the calculation is as follows:

Percent Scored               Rating Scored

<= 55                                           1

> 55 and <= 60                          2

> 60 and <= 70                          3

> 70 and <= 80                          5

> 80 and <= 90                          8

> 90                                            10

Now coming to Graduation in Science Stream, the calculation

is done according to the following table:

Percentage Scored          Rating Scored

<= 55                                              1

> 55 and <= 60                             2

> 60 and <= 62                             3

> 62 and <= 65                             5

> 65 and <= 70                             8

> 70                                               10

The minimum cut offs in 12th in Science Stream across all Categories have been as follows:

General Category: 80

OBC-NC/Transgender: 75

SC:70

ST: 65

PWD-UR/OBC/TG/SC: 70

PWD- ST: 65

And the final score is calculated using this formulae:

Personal Interview Multiplication Factor = 0.50

AWT Multiplication Factor = 0.10

CAT Score Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score = 0.25

Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score = 0.15

So based on your Category, to get a call from an IIM, you score should be as follows:

General Category: 98+

OBC-NCL: 90+

SC: 75+

ST: 65+

However if your target is to get into a normal to good  MBA College, you should aim at atleast 85%.

Hello dear candidate.

CAT, that is, Common Admission Test, is an entrance test. It tests your ability on Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. It is very difficult to predict your CAT examination score based on your academic performance. Your hard work and persistence will help you achieve milestones.
