Dear aspirant,

There is lots of differences between private engineering colleges and government engineering colleges. Firstly the fees, government college's fees is less than private colleges. Second is placement if it is good government college then more chances of campus placement even private colleges also have campus placements but is quite less than government colleges but private colleges more focusing on your technical knowledge as well.

I'm short every thing has pros and cons.

Thank you.

Hi,

Theres a big difference between private colleges and government college.

Firstly we will know about private colleges:

  • They have a really huge fee structure which they show in really many things like they will show different criteria for the fee that they charge and other stuff too.
  • They will provide you good facilities like washroom will be clean and modern type.
  • They will provide stationary that is quite good and usable.
  • They will provide good hostel facilities like hostel will be clean and the rooms will be very big , there might be good space in cupboards and the balcony space is good and the washrooms might be well maintained.
  • The hostel fee too is too much for one student.
  • The classes are well maintained.
  • There might be ac classes for the students and the building of the colleges are also centralized ac.
  • Hostels will have mess that provides proper food four times a day and the quality of the food is also too good.
  • There will be hostels provided with a warden that manages the functioning of the hostel related issues like the maintainance of the washrooms , rooms, the lights and other issues.
  • The placement stuff is not too good in these colleges except a few.
  • Some of the private colleges are
BITS

VIT

SRM

THAPAR UNIVERSITY

AMITY UNIVERSITY

Now we would know about some of the government colleges:

  • They have a fee structure too less so that if the student doesnt has much money but still he or she can study the course.
  • They dont have too much maintained classes like they dont have ac and they dont have well furnished furniture .
  • They have buildings that are quite too old and are not maintained from time to time and are not too clean.
  • They dont have well furnished hostel as like the hostel rooms are too small and the hostel rooms are not maintained.
  • The hostels dont have well maintained washrooms .
  • The hostels have alloted wardens but the wardens hardly pay attension towards the functioning of the hostel issues and visit the hostels not often.
  • The placement stuff is too good in these colleges . Companies like Wipro, TCS, LNT, etcetera visit the govenment colleges for recruitment .
  • Some of the government colleges are :
IITs

NITs

Chandigarh college

So all the very best for your exams and go for the choice you like the most.

Theres a big difference in studies also government colleges let the student explore and learn by himself so thats the main point. So its your choice.

You might have heard many basic differences like difference in merit of students, difference in fees, etc. But, apart from that, I would like to enlist some real ground level differences between the government college and the private college

In government colleges, classes take place for only about 34 hours a day. But, in private college, 67 hours of classes is quite normal.

Govt college faculties are not very student friendly. They are always busy in something.

You get to bunk classes more often in a government college.

You can live your life freely, while in a govt college. No body is going to teach you any sort of discipline. You can justchillat anytime.

Though the government teachers teach very less, their standard of teaching is much better than that of private colleges.

Private college students are hard workers. You will always find them studying or doing some assignments.

Government students don't study much as they believe in something calledlast night magicand yes, it works for them. They score good marks by studying very less. Hence, I would call them smart workers.

If you are thinking that government colleges have a lot of brand value then you are wrong. Things have changed nowadays. Until and unless you are from IITs/NITs or any big college, no body cares.

Nowadays, private colleges are providing more internship and placement opportunities by attracting more companies.

Government systems are sluggish in nature and hence you won't find labs and workshops in good condition. If a machine breaks down, it would take months, or even years to repair it.

Government colleges are more prone to ragging and politics.

If you are a government college student, you can always feel proud and brag about it outside your college even if no one cares. :p

It is a fact that government college students are much better in cracking prestigious exams like CAT, ESE and GATE and they always seem to overshadow others by their performance.

Lastly, not all government college passout are doing great in their lives and not all private college students are living trivially. What you do yourself is much more important than your college name. Anyone can achieve anything in life if he/she is stubborn enough.

Hope this information will helps you

All the best!

hi ansh,

government colleges,

  • they are the institutions governed/managed by state or central governments.
  • the fee will be very low compare to private institutions
  • most of governments institutions are grew as most reputated ones for placements and infrastrucutre etc., eg: nit's
  • you will need high score to earn admission in any entrance exam needed for government colleges  or you should have merit mark in your +2 board

private colleges:

  • they are owned and managed by private institutions
  • fee will be high when compared to government colleges
  • you'll get more facility when compared to government colleges
  • there are more top and prestigious private institutions in india, which are offering excellent education and best placement records
  • infrastructure wise  most of private institutions will be better government colleges
  • for admission, you have to face entrance or can go with management quota (high fee but low marks )
