guys pls answer this doubt while writing the formula for electric field should we take only magnitude of source charge or should take direction also??
Hello!!!!
the formula for electric field is given by
E=kQ/r2
where, k=constant = 8.99 x 10 9 N m 2 /C 2 .
Q=charge
r=distance away from point charge.
The direction of the electric field can be considered as positive if the electric field is produced by the point charge is away from the charge and negative if the electric field is produced by the point charge is towards from the charge.
If multiple point charges are present,the net electric field at any point is considered as the sum of the electric fields due to individual charges.
HOPE IT HELPS!!!!!
see in a dipole both positive and negative charges exist so.. what will be the net electric field at centre of dipole??
