Hi.
It seems that you have misinterpreted the pattern of NEET Exam. There is no perfect claim that '95% are from NCERT and 5% are from anywhere' however 100% of those questions will be from your syllabus of class 11 and 12. The best way to prepare depends on an individual and which method suits them perfectly. Majority of questions are from NCERT does not mean that exact questions are replicated in the exam but some questions are similar and mostly all of them are from the syllabus covered in NCERT.

Best of Luck.
Hello Aspirant,
- See, never ever go for any other books for Biology. The NCERT is self-sufficient in itself. However not all the questions asked in NEET will be from the NCERT. For that you need to know some of the topics which are relevant from NEET examination point of view which are well and ofcourse very nicely outlined in the module of Allen. This is true because institutes like Allen are dealing with such out of box problems since years. Now coming onto the topics of Biology which will require some extra edge are :
- Plant physiology
- Human Physiology ( Nervous System [Brain meninges, spinal and cranial nerves, Gray and white matter] , GIT , Respiration [Bohrs Effect, Haldane Effect , Chloride Shift, Hamburger Phenomenon, Shifting of O2 -Haemoglobin saturation curve], Neuro-Endocrine system)
- Pedigree Charts
- Immunity: HLA System, Vaccines
- Genetics
- Molecular Basis of Inheritance
- Ecology : Niche, Stratification, Local knowledge
- Human Reproduction
Many more… Also brush up concepts like if a question is asked if a regular menstruation takes place in a lady of 30 years, considering it to be a cycle of 30 days when there will be LH surge. Many of us will say it will be on 14th day but NCERT didn't utterly give that concept. LH Surge will always be “ 14 DAYS PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF THE NEXT CYCLE”; i.e., LH surge will be on 30-14 = 16th day of the cycle; considering a regular menstrual cycle.
Such questions may be asked as competition has been on increase day by day. So focus on the minute things and look for such high yield facts relevant from exam point of view. And for sure , you will be a doctor a day soon! But , your prime focus should be on those 80 questions which you will do correct and not on those 10 questions which are out of the box. However if you are aiming among top 100 or 1000 AIR, you can't miss them; even for getting an MBBS seat in a govt medical college.
All the best!
