guys pls tell me the meaning of acididc buffer and basic buffer??
Hello Chetan
Acidic Buffers are solutions that have a ph elow 7 and contain a weak acid and one of its salts. For example, a mixture of acetic acid and sodium acetate acts as a buffer solution with a ph of about 4.75. Alkaline buffers on the other hand, have a pH above 7 and contain a weak base and one of its salts.
A buffer solution is an aqueous solution consisting of a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base , or vice versa.
I hope your question has been answered properly.
All the best !
Hi Chetan,
Acidic buffers are the solutions with pH value below 7 and they constitute of some weak acids like acetic acid etc and one salt of this acid.
Basic buffers are the solutions with pH value above 7 and contain some weak bases like Ammonia etc and one salt of this base.
Feel free to ask doubts in the Comment Section.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck!
.01M HCL+0.2M NH4Cl.then how to find basic or acidic pH and buffer??
Here HCl is an acid and NH4Cl is also an acidic salt so it is clear that this will be acidic buffer...
