Hello,
Physically, a body in rotational motion without either sliding or rolling, will rotate about a fixed axis. Example: a ceiling fan.
The basic difference among the three groups is:
In sliding, the particles of the object are in linear motion. While in rotational motion, the particles rotate around a fixed axis. Rolling is the combination of these both. In rolling, the particles move linearly while also rotation around a fixed axis.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
