yes you can pursue your interest in BTech Computer Engineering upon your completion of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. You can secure a seat for BTech in Computer Engineering provided you meet the marks eligibility of the college where you are interested to pursue your Btech in Computer Engineering course. Generally to admission through lateral  entry admission policy, you would not eligible to apply for computer science since  you have completed diploma in mechanical engineering. most of the colleges does not allow to change branch after completing diploma and admission as lateral student on second year. however if you have done 12th course with physics, chemistry and mathematics , you are eligible to apply for institute wise or state entrance exam or different engineering entrance test of India with satisfying the qualifying score or age limit.
