HEC is one of the traditional intermediate groups.

HEC stands for History,Economics & Civics.

So, HEC is not a commerce subject whereas MEC and CEC are commerce subjects.

For graduation after HEC you can choose BA(Economics), BA(Social welfare), BA(mass communication), Bachelors in History, Economy, Political Science and many other sectors.

You have opportunities to secure a government job if you opt HEC like IAS, IPS, constable in state and central level.
