Hi,

Although both R and Python programming language are beneficial to become a data scientist but it is not necessary to learn R programming language if you have knowledge of Python programming language.

Python is most widely used in this field and the best language to learn if you want to become a data scientist. It is open source and easy to use and will grab you with the most job opportunities.

Whereas, R programming language is also open source but is typically used for statistical computing and graphics and it is more complex to learn as compared to Python.
