Alok, to become an Orthopaedic surgeon, you should complete your MBBS along with the 1 year mandatory rotational internship. Now before we take you to the route to study to become an Ortho surgeon, we shall explain the path to study to become a MBBS doctor. You should appear for NEET and complete the 50 months course and also the 1 year mandatory rotational internship. Now NEET is the entrance examination for admission to MBBS and not PG courses like MD/MS. But Orthopaedic Surgeon is a MS course. Now coming back to MBBS, because MBBS has no specialisations, once you appear for NEET and secure a rank, you are allotted a Medical College based on your rank and Category. But in the case of PG courses, there are quite a few specialisations and you get a seat based on your rank in NEET PG and Category. Now this system of admission to MD/MS courses through NEET PG is only for the next 3 years because the National Medical Commission has proposed to scrap NEET PG in favour of NEXT. This will take approximately 3 years. As this is not officially finalised yet, we do not have enough information as how it might be implemented. But the options to choose in your PG will always depend on your score in the qualifying exam and your Category.
This ebook serves as a valuable study guide for NEET exams, specifically designed to assist students in light of recent changes and the removal of certain topics from the NEET exam.
