Hello Gaurav,
Hope you are doing well!
Well dear, taking an year drop means, without taking admission with your present JEE Rank, you are preparing to appear again in the next consecutive year as a non- college student.
There are many students who take drop every year some for qualifying and some for rank improvement.
So,if you are not happy with your rank, and you think you can perform better, and have a good study statergy then you may take an year drop.
That's completely your choice,
But,there is no guarentee that your rank will improve, you can just give your best, and definately your chance of giving JEE Mains gets reduced as you are thinking to give 2 consecutive attempts.
B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN
NOTE:
Jee-Advance only has 3 consectutive attempts and Jee-Mains has 2 Consecutive Attempts

Hii,
Let me clear your doubt, drop out means to prepare for 1 year after the 12th standard for any competitive exam. For jee you will have only 2 attempts(for advance)and 3 attempts for mains. when you drop for 1 year you loose your 1 attempt for the exam.
Hope it is helpful to you.
