So, there is nothing to confuse between computer science and information technology to pursur degree after successful completion of Diploma course. As you have good foundation in computers during diploma course, you can go for either of the courses and it doesn't make any matter. Do list out your chances based on the rank in the qualifying examination and choose the best college. Generally, candidates join lateral B.Tech course after completing diploma in any engineering field to get direct entry into the second year. Degree course will open more career opportunities for you.
