First of all thank you to apporaching us's. it's not eassy to get a admission in iit Madras but if you really want to be a part of IIT which is located in Madras. See for SC student it is eassy to get a admission if you try hard and take institution for IIT. And the rank should me very less as much as possible because everyone is trying to get good rank in each field. So you should have to give your 100+ effect to get in high repuated college's. The cutoffs shall vary from branch to branch, for CSE the cutoff is the highest in top 300 ranks as it is highly preferred branch known for its amazing placements with 100% ratio.

Although for SC, the cutoffs close down to rank 108 as per 2017 trends.

The cutoff generally varies as it depends on number of takers for the exam, difficulty level, cutoff trends , number of seats available.

There are 2 type of courses in IIT, Madras

4 Years Bachelor Course (B.tech)

5 Years Dual Degree Course (B.Tech+ M.tech & B.Tech +MS)

In 2017, Lowest cut off rank for 4 years course (SC Category) was:
Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering- 1489 Rank (SC Rank- JEE Advanced)

Lowest cut off rank for 5 years course (SC Category) was:
Biological Sciences (5 Years, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Dual Degree)) - 2152 Rank (SC Rank- JEE Advanced)

For other top branch cut off were:

(All the ranks are SC category rank in JEE Advanced exam)
