Hello

M. Sc. Life Sciences or Master of Science in Life Sciences is a postgraduate degree program offered by various universities and colleges around the country. It is a course that spans for two academic years divided into four semesters.

Candidates who have completed their B.Sc. degree from any reputed college or university in any of the following subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, are eligible to apply for the course in colleges like Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. The subjects are:

Botany, biochemistry, biotechnology, life science, microbiology and zoology.

Students are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance test along with personal interview and also on the academic performance in the qualifying exam. The students who perform well in the entrance test are then called for the personal interview and on the basis of the three combined- B.Sc. Marks, entrance test and personal interview , they are granted admission to M.Sc. Life Sciences.

The duration for the course in colleges like St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur is of 2 academic years which are divided into 4 semesters. The course is divided in such a way that each student has to take up a combination of core courses and present a dissertation at the end of the fourth semester.

However, open universities like IGNOU offers this course with a maximum duration of 5 years.

Thankyou, I hope it helps, feel free to approach for further queries.
