If you took six subjects in Class 12 and passed the main five subjects, but failed Chemistry (the sixth subject), you are still considered "Pass" as per CBSE rules. The sixth subject is optional, and failing it does not affect your overall pass status.

However, if you want to pass Chemistry, you can appear for the compartment exam. If you pass the compartment exam, your marks will be updated accordingly.

Yes, you are likely passed in Chemistry because you scored 23/70 in theory and 30/30 in practicals . Usually, passing criteria require a minimum of 33% marks in theory and practical combined . Since your total marks in Chemistry are 53/100 , you have likely cleared the subject.

Regarding multiple 'X' marks , it could be a system-generated code or an internal remark by the board. You should contact your school or board officials for clarification. If your mark sheet does not mention "Fail," you are considered passed .

Hello there,

Yes, you are likely pass in your Chemistry compartment exam because:

  • You scored 23/70 in theory and 30/30 in practical .
  • Usually, a minimum of 33% overall (theory + practical) is required to pass.
  • Your total is 53/100 , which is above the passing marks.

    Regarding the multiple X marks:
  • It does not indicate failure. It usually means "Result Withheld" for some verification or technical reason.

  • You should contact your school or CBSE regional office to confirm if your result is fully updated.

Since your compartment result is declared separately for Chemistry, it should be valid, and you should be considered passed in Class 12.
