Hello sir I'm graduated in bsc biotechnology and I'm confused whether I should pursue master degree in forensic or in biotechnology only..?
Hiii
Lets see the diiference in both the courses. Let me give you some details about both courses and then we can come to know the difference between both.
Msc Forensic Science
-
It is a post graduate forensics course. This field helps in answering the questions in interest of legal system. In this field, the knowledge of all the other branches of science is used.
In this courses, you will study about all the principles and theories of forensics. The duration of courses would be 2 years
Eligiblity-
The candidates must posses any of the following graduation degree, Bsc physics, chemistry , biology , botany, zoology, biotechnology, biochemistry , microbiology, BDS , BPharma , or applied sciences.
Msc Biotechnology
-
It is a post graduate course in the field of applied biology. It involves the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering and technology as well as medicine. The duration of the course is 2 years. The course would involve thrust areas of science like Molecular Biology, Genetics , agricultural biotechnology, applied microbiology , bioinformatics , and bioprocess technology.
Eligibility-
The candidate must posses a graduate degree with any of the life sience subject ( Botany , zoology , microbiology, biotechnology , biochemistry ) or Bsc agriculture.
Now lets see the scope of both subjects.
Forensics
graduates will have work areas and job types as follows -
Correction officers , custom agents , Forensic psychologist, compliance officer , Police detective, Crime scene investigator , Secret service, Forensic medicine professor etc.
You can be employed at Crime Branches , Police department , Research Lab, forensic Lab, or you can start your own investigation business.
Biotechnology
Graduates scope of job in areas like research centers, medical manufacturing companies, Pharma marketing companies etc. The post would include venture capitalist, chemical engineer , environmental and industrial engineer, environmental specialist, Lab technician, quality control officier, medical representative, research associate, Research scientist etc.
You can furthur study Mphill and PhD in same field to improve the job opportunities.
This was the difference for both the course. There is nothing like good or bad, it depends on your interest and career plans.
If you feel you are interested in genetics, human genomes, biotechnology etc and want to work as a research person or scientist, i would suggest to go for Biotechnology.
If you like to investigate things and are interested in legal things, then go for forensics.
Both the courses have a great scope and both can earn you a handsome amount of money. Job opportunities are almost same in both the fields just that the job types are different.
Choose wisely as per your own interests. I would say personelly, both the courses are good.
Hope this helps
Feel free to revert back for any more doubt.
Thanks!!
