Hi! Indian Military: Well, Biology graduates do have options at Indian Army for becoming an Officer. Combined Defence Services Examination conducted by UPSC: Candidates need to qualify in CDS exam and then they need to be recommended by Services Selection Board in SSB (Staff Selection Board) interviews. Yes you are eligible for Indian army after completing 12th with Biology. To join Indian Army you can write the NDA exam. NDA stands for National Defence Academy. This exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice in a year.
If you have study Biology in your 12th examination then you are eligible to apply for Army Wings of NDA.
For Naval and Air Force Wings, You have to complete your 12th examination with Maths and Physics as a compulsory Subjects.
To apply for this examination your age should between 16.5 to 19 Years.
I am assuming you are not studying Maths & Physics and I understand you have biology as your optional, which means you can not apply for NDA and 10+2 TES entry. Yes you can join army as a soldier with this qualification. But you can join army (as an officer) after your graduation. All candidates who are interested in joining Indian Army, Navy or Air Force, can appear for NDA examination. In other words, it is only Army the Biology students can apply for and not allowed for Navy and AirForce.
Civil Services: Yes, Biology students are eligible to appear for civili services and the most popular being IAS (Indian Administrative Services) & IFS (India Foreign Services) Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. In order to appear in IAS Examination, you must have completed Graduate Degree (Bachelor Degree) in any discipline from a recognized university.
The Civil Services Exam (CSE) is considered as one of the toughest in the world. To clear the exam, an aspirant has to maintain high motivational levels with intense preparation for a minimum period of two years. The best undergraduate course to pursue IAS is HUMANITIES.
