Hello Balaji,
I believe you are a better candidate for the business world. Before answering your question, I would like to narrow your question so that it would be helpful. I begin with assuming that you are willing to persuing MBA in our beautiful India. So, there are mainly 3-4 exams like CAT conducted by IIMs, XAT conducted by XLRI, MAT, CMAT and some states exams like MHCET. So, they conduct a their own test to shortlist students. In the test, they ask mostly about quantitative aptitude, verbal , data interpretation and logical reasoning. You have to get through it with having a good percentile, so that top colleges like IIM BLACKIS, XLRI, XIMB, IMT, IMI, IIFM, FMS, DSE, IITs etc will sort you out. Then, you have to prepare yourself for GD and PI which carries a good share in final selection to their college.
And category in selection like SC,ST, OBC and open category have their own cutoffs. For open category it's 99.5+ to have a safe side, OBC 98.5+ and SC/ST 90+. I have some friends who are in IIM Bangalore who shares this data.
For any further communication, you can ask freely.
Thanks, all the best.

Hi Amir!
Greetings on having decided to take up the CAT next year and having a college in mind already. Well, the whole process of CAT can be wrapped up with a preparation ranging from 4 months to 1 year depending upon where your level of expertise is right now. Anyways, to begin with, one has to crack the CAT and it's important to know the pattern.
It is a 3-hour computer-based test with100 multiple-choice questions which are divided into 3 sections- Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability. The number of questions is split as 34-32-32 respectively and it's important to score at least 65-70 questions correct to fall in the top creamy layer. Since you have not mentioned your category, I'll assume it as general and give you the steps accordingly to read your goal - IIM-Bangalore.
Now, Bangalore is a different league of college. Though it falls in the holy trinity ( IIM-ABC), it has it's own selection criteria wherein the weight is given to CAT percentile is rather less. i.e ( 40% during giving out calls and 25% while selecting for final admission). Thus if your score doesn't hit the upper roof (i.e 99.8-99.99) you still have a chance to appear in their PI-WAT given that you have stellar academics.
IIM Bangalore emphasises on having a consistent track record in your academics and favors the ones who have more than 90% in their 10th, 12th and graduation level and thus it is important for you to keep note of it. If by any chance there is a dent or a downhill in it, getting into IIM-B is highly unlikely. In spite of having a high CAT percentile like 99.5, I have seen people without calls from IIM-B because their past academics had let them down.
IIMB also showers light on work experience and if you have anywhere around 2-3 years of solid work experience it really heps in boosting up your overall chance of getting in. Make sure that you spend some time understanding why you need an MBA except for the salary part and bring in some valuable insights during the nterview stage to make your selection process easier.
Coming to extra-curriculars, though it is not extensively mentioned or is considered during slection, it takes center stage when you enter the interview panel because most of the qustions would revolve around it.
For now, it's just wise enough to step up your CAT score and focus on improving your profile if IIM-B is where you want to get.
Good luck.!
