Hello,
KCET is a exam conducted in Karnataka for admission in engineering colleges of Karnataka. The exam is of 180 marks with no negative marking and 1 mark for each correct questions.
The ranking is based on KCET score as well as the class 12th PCM score. Both of these carry equal weightage in ranking process.
For a rank below 10000, according to previous trends, you would need to score above 125 -130 out of 180 as you have secured 78% in 12th PCM.
The trends keep changing every year and the competition is gradually increasing so it would be good if you score as high as possible to get admission in your preferred college and branch.
There is no fixed number which decides the KCET rank of a candidate. There are various factors on which the cut off for KCET Exam depends and it changes every year, some factors like, number of candidates appearing for Exam, Difficulty of Exam, Marks obtained in 12 Class etc. But if you really want a number I can give a round figure somewhere near the minimum marks needed to get Rank less than 10000 on KCET. Supposing your class 12 PCM score you should score marks around 100-120 to make your rank under 10000.
Let me give you a real example of one of the candidate, his PCM marks were 286/300 i.e., 95.33% and his kcet 2017 marks were 101/180. The rank score under these marks was 2823.
His rank was 2823 due to the fewer marks obtained in the KCET Exam so guys every single mark counts.
But these numbers can be changed based on above-listed factors.
Hope it helps!!!
Best of Luck!!!
