For any examinations the cutoff are decided by the following factors :-
- Number of candidates appeared in examination.
- Difficulty level of the examination.
- Number of seats available in the participating institutes.
- And previous year cut off trends.
There is a chance that if the number of candidates decreases as compared to previous year then the cutoff closing ranks will increase. But also this year the seats for female candidates have been increased in nits and iits. So the number of seats in the participating institutes have also increased and this can also be assumed as one of the factors that cutoff closing ranks for Round 1 counselling is higher than previous year round 1 counselling for josaa.
But there can be no sure saying that these two are the reasons for cutoff increment.
It might be possible that there are some other reasons too, like this year the josaa counselling will be of total 6 rounds, but last year it was of total of seven rounds, so there is a possibility that for finishing the filling of seats within 6 rounds, the cutoffs are increased. So many possibilities can arise.
