6 new colleges were likely to be established by this year (in Nilgris, Namakkal, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Tirupur and Virudghunagar. ) Each college with 150 seats has been approved by the union health ministry. This means at least 900 seats are surely going to be added across Tamil Nadu for MBBS. In the future, 4 additional colleges will be added as well (which will be set up in Kancheepuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore and Ariyalur, with each medical college to seat a total of 150 students).
