Hey there!
A lot of the kids doing their 11th and 12th have this same problem. Well, to prepare for your JEE Mains, it would take you around 3 months of dedicated hard work and with that, you can get into the top ranks of JEE and then qualify easily for the JEE Advanced.
To prepare for the JEE Mains, just follow the steps given below and you should be good to go:-
1) The first thing you have to do is get to know everything there is about the examination. Like what the exam pattern is, the eligibility needed, important dates of the examination like the last date of application, etc., the syllabus, past scores and the results, application form release dates, cutoff's of the past year and the expected cutoffs, etc.
2) The second thing you would want to do is develop on the speed and accuracy of answering your questions. This means that you will have to time yourself and solve past question papers to have a good go at this.
3) The third thing is when testing yourself, be harsh on yourself and see to it that you are a strict teacher for yourself and this will greatly reduce your chances of making mistakes in the examination.
4) The fourth and final thing is to believe that you can do it and face the exam with confidence and get rid of tension, and you can be sure to achieve great results in your examination.
For preparing for your JEE Advanced will be a bit harder but follow the steps below and you have a great chance at making it:-
1) For the preparation in JEE Advanced, you will have to start by solving every question and examples in your reference books like the Cengage Series. Do these for all the subjects, Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
2) Plan your days beforehand. Keep the next day planned before you go to bed, writing a time table would help greatly as well. When making your timetable make sure you get enough rest, food, and also don't over exert yourself.
3) Keep practicing so that you can skip steps in your subjects like mathematics because with practice you will be able to do the simple calculations in your mind and this will help greatly as well since it takes lesser time to answer your paper.
4) And the last thing to keep in mind is, never look for any kinds of shortcuts. There an old saying, "No Pain, No Gain". Make this your motto when preparing for the JEE Advanced because if you are going to look for shortcuts then you are never going to be truly prepared for the JEE Advanced.
You are in your 11th so you can start your preparation from now itself and don't have to wait till after 12th, this will truly increase your chances. I wish you Best of Luck!
The competition in JEE Mains examination is growing every year but high scores can be achieved if worked hard.
I suggest you to start preparing for JEE Mains and Advance from now on.
Start with NCERT Textbooks of 11th and 12th standards of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. To be thorough with a chapter, understand the conceptual part very well.
If any doubt arises while understanding a topic then get it cleared at that point of time itself otherwise it just piles up.
Make handwritten notes by yourself. Handwritten notes are very useful. Make a separate notebook in which you can note down formulas. Suppose you finish with a physics chapter current electricity then immediately note down it's formulas, any tips as to how to solve it's numericals and such similar things about it which you need to remember and which will be helpful to revise before JEE Main final examination. Make such three notebooks for each subject.
Prepare a timetable. Set targets for the day and complete them.
There are many reference books available for JEE Mains and Advance. I suggest you to refer the books from whichever you understand better but remember not to refer 5-6 books for a subject as it will only create confusion.
Everyday solve as many multiple choice questions as you can based on the chapter you studied that day.
Refer previous year question papers to get familiar with the types of questions which come in exam.
If you want to know about syllabus, reference books or have any other queries feel free to mention it down in the comment section.
