Hey friends,is IAS better or IFS?,(in terms of everything). . .And is an IFS officer under an IAS officer?
Hello, The first thing I would like to say is a candidate chooses his/her service according to his/her aspirations and aptitudes, and of course, rank. It has been seen in the case among toppers that they choose IAS rather than IFS because for a foreign diplomat, the posting could prove to be a huge cultural shift or even danger to their lives(if they are posted in a war prone country. If a candidate wishes to serve within the country by helping to bring about changes in the life of 'Aam Aadmi', if he/she wants to do an active job of bringing in progress, then, the IAS seems to be the best choice. But, if a life of travel and adventure and also meeting people from different cultures and places appeals to the candidate, then the foreign services might suit him/her. Also, IAS officers have more visibility in the public. If you are the kind of person who would not like to be a frontrunner in the matters of publicity, the foreign services might suit you where you remain anonymous at least for a few years of your career. So, in conclusion, there is no right answer to the question, “IAS or IFS which is better?”. The answer depends solely on the individual’s aptitude and interests. Good Luck!
Hi student,
There is definitely a hype surrounding the job profile of an IAS officer. It is definitely the one of the best and most respectful job one could as for. However, we must keep in mind that not everything is as rosy as it seems. The life of an IAS officer is definitely a tough one as they have to deal with public as well as politicians all the while being honest. Moreover, the posting of an IAS officer will always be in India, sometimes in the most interior parts of India. However IFS is an Indian foreign services. Their job profile consists of being posted outside of India most of the times. It consists of being a representative of India to the foreign countries. Ao we cannot say that one is better than the other. It all depends on the type of work and job profiles you want to have in future. There have been many instances where people with very good ranks have chosen IFS over IAS. So it all depends on your interest and capabilities. Do research well before choosing as it will change your course of life.
Hope it helps.
Good luck.
