Hi!

For Bachelor's of Arts (Honours) in English, your best four subjects will include the following:

1. English

2. History

3. Geography

4. Economics

5.Hindi

English will be compulsory, while you can't include Physical Education as per University of Delhi guidelines.

So, you can calculate your percentage with english + hindi + history + geography = 92.75%

Hope it helps!

Yes, but can I add Hindi and English in the best of 4 subjects? That's the question, if I can add two languages in it or not.

Yes!
Because you've studied two languages, and you are applying for English hons, then English will be considered as language while Hindi will be considered as an elective subject.

Hi Mayuri!

Best of four is usually calculated by taking into account English + the best three subjects. Hence, in your case, you have got-

English-90

History- 96

Geography- 96

Hindi- 89

The percentage comes out to be 92.75 which I believe will suffice for admission to your desired course.

Hope this helped!

But I've heard that we can only take one language and three elective subjects. Is that true? Cuz that'll reduce my percentage to 90.5%.

Hi Mayuri!

Since you want to take admission in the English course, it is compulsory for you to add English in this list. Hence, Hindi can be added as a separate subject. You can be sure to add it if is an elective and not a core subject. Even if Hindi is your core subject, I believe you can include it. The DU website mentions that the 4 subjects must be

One language subjectThe subject for which the candidate is applyingSubjects from List A (which does include all of your subjects).

Hence, you can include both. Kindly check the university's guidelines in which you intend to apply.

Good luck!
