Hello and welcome!

Great question about the KCET rank calculation for CBSE students. Let me break down the process for you clearly.

The KCET ranking for CBSE students follows these key steps:

1. Entrance Test Marks:

- Your KCET exam performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology is considered

- Each subject carries equal weightage

2. Board Marks Normalization:

- 50% weightage from your CBSE 12th marks in PCM/PCB subjects

- These marks are normalized to ensure fairness between different boards

- A standardization formula is applied to account for scoring variations between state and central boards

Applications for Admissions are open.

Apply to Amrita University B.Tech 2025

3. Final Score Calculation:

- 50% from normalized 12th board marks

- 50% from KCET entrance test scores

- These are combined to generate your final rank

The normalization process is particularly important as it ensures CBSE students compete fairly with state board students. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) uses a statistical method to maintain this balance.

For the most current and detailed information about the ranking process, including any recent changes or updates, I'd encourage you to visit our website or the official KEA portal.

Would you like me to explain any specific part of this process in more detail? Or do you have questions about how to optimize your preparation based on this ranking system?

How KCET Rank is Calculated for CBSE Students

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) rank for CBSE students is calculated based on a 50:50 weightage system. This means that your final rank will be determined by your performance in both the KCET exam and your Class 12 board exams.

Here's a breakdown of the calculation:

  1. KCET Score:

    • Your KCET score out of 180 is calculated based on your performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections.

    • This score is then normalized to account for variations in exam difficulty across different years.

  2. Class 12 Board Marks:

    • Your marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from your Class 12 board exams are considered.

    • These marks are converted to a percentage.

  3. Final Rank Calculation:

    • Your final KCET rank is determined by combining your KCET score and your Class 12 board percentage, with a 50:50 weightage.

For example:

  • If you score 120 out of 180 in the KCET exam and 90% in your Class 12 board exams, your final score would be calculated as follows:
    • KCET score contribution: (120/180) * 50 = 33.33
    • Board exam score contribution: (90/100) * 50 = 45
    • Total score: 33.33 + 45 = 78.33

Your final rank will be determined based on this total score and the performance of other candidates.

To get a more accurate estimate of your rank, you can use online KCET rank predictors. These tools can help you gauge your chances of getting admission to your desired college and course.

Remember: The specific cutoff ranks for different colleges and courses can vary. It's advisable to check the official website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for the latest updates and information.

We all know that KCET exam carries a weightage of 50% in determining your final rank so if you score more than 90 percent in your boards you will get good rank The higher your marks, the better your rank will be. The marks you secured in your Class 12 board exams also play a role, with a weightage of 50%.

But one thing more if you manage to score between 140-160 in KCET exam along with 90 percent board marks you will get rank under 1k which is considered very good.

So, performing well in both KCET and your boards is essential.
