Yes, you can pursue PHD. Eligibility Criteria for PhD varies for University to University. Some general points are given below:
- Masters degree with higher than average percentage (differs from University to University). For some subjects, even MPhil is required.

Most of the reputable universities, a candidate must qualify the all India examination, like National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) conducted by NTA.
- There is also an interview followed by written exam if needed.
