hi , I am getting 70 marks in MECHANICAL GATE 2019. Can i expect any PSU ??

Hello Aspirant,

Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering(GATE) exam is conducted yearly once to provide admissionss into post graduate courses in various prestigious institutes like IITs,NITs,IIITs etc.. and also to be taken into various jobs in Public Sector Undertakings(PSUs).One thing you should keep in mind is that we cannot predict the rank based on your score because the gate score depends on the following factors:

• The difficulty of the paper.
  
• No.of students appeared in the examination.
  

Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) is a Government owned corporation or a company in which Central or State Government have more than 51% share. Basically these Government companies run like private companies and share profits to Government.

All these Public sector companies recruit Engineer Trainee (ET) based on the GATE scores. Initially they would shortlist candidates based on GATE scores and then the process is followed by GD and Interview for assessment of different facets of knowledge.

PSUs are subdivided into the following 3 categories-

• Maharatna
  
• Navratna
  
• Miniratna
  

It depends upon the PSU whether they want to take the additional test after considering GATE scores or not. However, there are some PSUs that recruit engineers solely either on the basis of GATE Scores or GATE PSU cut off or GATE Rank or GATE Cut Off.

cut-off for MECL( Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited )-73.67 for unreserved, 68.33 for OBC

cut-off for NLC(Neyveli Lignite Corporation )- 78.44 for unreserved,72.52 for OBC, 61.71 for SC

cut-off for HPCL(Hindustan Petroleum Corporation )-68.45 for unreserved

cut-off for NTPC(National Thermal Power Corporation)-81.02 for unreserved,77.26 for OBC,69.76 for SC

cut-off for ONGC(Oil and Natural Gas Corporation)-810(score)

cut-off for BHEL(Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited )-84.43 for unreserved

cut-off for MDL(Mazagon Dock Limited)-79.54 for unreserved

cut-off for GAIL(Gas Authority of India Limited)-85.38 for unreserved
