Hello,
While pursuing a career in law does involve a substantial amount of memorizing but that's also relevant to the practice, when any client approaches a lawyer for any case then it rests with the lawyer to help out, in this case there are some pre-requisite traits or characteristics such as being acquainted with the legal aspect of the case and it does involve a detailed study as you'll be required to present your case, for each lawyer their primary motive always is to win, and that involves a well-detailed understanding of the subject, hence it's important to keep your self updated in that sense, and developing a reading habit helps a lot, especially equating the legal aspects of cases with the study.
