The top B-schools in the country consider the work experience as one of the factors for their admission process. So, work experience is a good thing if it’s not more than 5 years as the weightage given to it goes down after that. I believe that it’s completely up to you whether you want to go for a regular MBA program or a distance one. You know your situation better than anyone else.
